Got some really cool shots of the Eclipse last night!

I'm so glad it cleared off so that we could see. We let Austin stay up past his bedtime to watch. It was very cool! Click the picture to see more!

I'm an idiot!

I have lost my office key (again!) I had it Monday morning but now I don't. I could not locate it yesterday morning when I got to work. Thankfully my co-worker was already here and had the door open. I thought I had left it in my pants pocket so I didn't stress too much about it. I got home yesterday and NO KEY! I looked all in my car, all over my house and still no key! I've searched my office this morning and still have not found the thing. Monday at lunch I went to Belk and Winn-Dixie. I've called both those places and they haven't had a key turned in. I then called the office I worked in after my little shopping trip. The sweet lady there looked all over and even in the parking lot. Still no key. I have no idea where it is. I don't even remember using it after I opened the door up Monday morning. I have requested a new one. This is the 2nd key I have lost this year. I'm so embarrassed! I don't do things like this. I'm hoping it will still turn up. I haven't given up hope. The good thing is that I don't have any id on it so no one would know what office it goes to and it was the only key on the ring. It is, however, on a lanyard (sp?) that says School Of Education.

Pray that my key turns up! I'll keep you posted!

We have color on the wall!!

Cody and I painted the dining room on Sat. He put a 2nd coat on yesterday morning. I love it! It looks so good! I'm hoping I will love the rest of the house just as much! I can't wait to get it painted now! Of course the actual preparation to paint is what takes so long. Cody wouldn't let me help with the 2nd coat. I guess my painting skills are lacking. (less work for me!) hee hee

We also got to go out on a date Sat. night. It has been a while since we went out without the kids. It was fun! We ate at Steak and Ale and then shopped. Of course we had to go to Books-a-Million and have a Mocha. YUM

Daniel is starting to talk more!

I'm so glad. I wasn't really worried but you always compare them to others their age and older brothers. Austin was talking in sentences by this time but all kids are different. Daniel is getting pretty chatty these days. Last night he was pointing at Elmo and saying "nelno" and he saw Barney in the boy box and yelled, "Baaary!" He says, "No, mine!" pretty clearly too! He says "I ont salt" and "I ont coke" pretty clearly also. He can also tell you how old he is with his cute little Southern drawl... tooowooo. Hee hee

Austin made the all A honor roll!!

We are so proud of him! He's such a great kid! He works hard at school and I guess it shows. I went with him to math night last night. We had fun! We played some math games and ate a slice of pizza. We went to the book fair and he bought a book about "A-Rod", the Yankee player. I have no idea how my little southern boy got to be a Yankee fan??? Of course we had to buy a little book for Daniel and then it was home to do baths and finish homework.

Tonight is a meeting to sign up for Cub Scouts. I'm not so sure I really want him to do it. I know it will involve a lot of running around and meetings. We will see.

We bought paint!

I went to Lowes yesterday and got Ornate Gold for the kitchen and something Auburn for the dining room. Our room will be Smoky Slate (kind of a green) and Austin picked Ships Harbor for his room. It's a very pretty blue. Now we have to get to work!

I can't wait to have color on the walls. We still have to decide about the living room and hall. I have a small powder room on our first floor also that needs something. I may even be inspired to hang some things on the walls now (besides pictures of my georgous boys!).

Cody put a new door in this weekend. He replaced our back door so hopefully that will help. You could see daylight around it before so I'm sure it wasn't very energy effecient. It took him all day and lots of cursing but it's in there and right! Poor handy husband of mine!

Brrrr. It feels like Fall today

It's 48 degrees this morning! Fall is here! I love this time of year! The high is not getting out of the 60s today. Yesterday I worried about Austin all day because he wore short sleeves and no jacket to school. Today he wore long sleeves and his jacket so no worries today! He looked so cute this morning. He's really growing up. I can't believe he is almost 8!

We went to Lowes last night and got a ton of paint samples. We are going to paint our interior very soon. I dread it! I'm not a very good painter. I also have a really hard time picking colors. Austin picked a pretty blue for his room. He wants an "under the ocean" kind of theme. I'm hoping we can come up with some good ideas that are easliy changed (i.e. no wallpaper).

I'm not sure what we will do in Daniel's room. We may just wait and let him decided in a year or two. He can just have the plain off white walls until then.

In our room I'm leaning toward a shade of green. I think it was called smoky something. It's not dark but not too light either. I would then have to find new bedding and curtains. Right now we have a quilt wiht burgandy/navy and navy curtains. I'm so tired of it! I want something different!

I found a color called Toasted Almond that I thought may be good for the living room and hall. I think I'll try and keep it fairly neautral in there. Again, we have the blue/burgandy couch and chair in there but I don't want dark walls. I also want something new and different in there! I wish I had a ton of money. It would make all this much easier and quick!

Wel I guess our Fall will be full of redecorating!

Had to stay home yesterday...

Daniel still had his fever and he threw up twice. I stayed home from work with him. He started feeling much better about the time Austin left for school. He wanted to eat so I gave him a banana. Thankfully it stayed put and he felt much better. It was nice to be home with him for the day. He had gotten up around 4:45 AM but was not interested in a nap at all. At least he wasn't grouchy. He napped on the way to pick up "bubba" from school but that was it. He seemed to be fine this morning so off to Pam's he went.

So I'm back at work today. Thankfully it's a fairly slow time for us so I'm not too far behind. I have a wonderful guy working with me and he is so good at keeping everything caught up! I really appreciate all his hard work!

I guess that's about all I have to say this morning. I haven't even had coffee yet so I think I'm doing pretty good!

My Danny Boy is running a fever

He had one when we got home from work yesterday. It was 100.4 under his arm. I gave him Motrin and he kept on going. He never acted sick at all. He played until bedtime. He was warm again so I gave him another dose and put him to bed. He slept all night with no problems. This morning his temp was 99.4 under his arm. I called his sitter and she told me to bring him. She is going to call me if his temp goes back up or he develops any other symptoms. I hate it when he has a fever and I don't know what is causing it. I'm glad it doesn't seem to make him feel bad.

Trying to decided when to stay home with the kids and take them to the doctor is one of the hardest things. It's always a guessing game it seem. It also seems that when I stay home they immediately start feeling fine and running wild.

Hopefully my little wild man will get rid of the fever today and be just fine!

Well it's Monday

So far so good for a Monday. The weekend was fun. Friday Cody had his wisdom teeth removed. Saturday he was out doing yard work so I guess it didn't bother him too much. He's a very tough man. We did work around the house Sat. so that was pretty boring. Sunday we went to Bass Pro Shop. It's about a two hour drive for us. The kids did great and Cody got to stock up on all these fishing things he seems to need. We stopped at the outlet malls on the way back and had very little time to shop. We ate at Cracker Barrel and believe it or not Daniel was pretty well behaved. Of course he did shove too much potato in his mouth and proceed to throw up most of what he had just eaten on the table (lovely, I know). We saw that as our queue to leave! Austin was great and very well behaved all day yesterday. I'm blessed!

Have a great day!!

I'm sad today

My dad called last night to tell me that a very good friend of our family died yesterday. :-( His name was John Clyde and he was the sweetest guy you could ever meet. I've known him since birth. He's my brothers' age. He apparently had a heart attack. He's too young!

John Clyde always made me feel good. Whenever I would see him he would hug me so hard I thought I would break in two. He would also tell me how great I looked and how cute I was as a baby. He was the best!

He will be missed so much. He lived with his elderly mother and took care of her. He also leaves behind two children. His daughter is married and his son is in his late teens.

Laughter is good for you!

I just got finished taking a break with my friends downstairs. We laughed and laughed and had a good break! I feel good now! I think laughter is good medicine as they say. I love it when my kids make me laugh. For example, a few weeks ago we took Austin (my almost 8 year old) to our local High School football game. They had a tent set up way over on the visitor side that was selling funnel cakes. Well close to half time the band started walking that way and my son in all his wisdom said, "Look, the band are all going to get funnel cakes." I cried I laughed so hard! I guess it was one of those 'had to be there' things but it was way funny!

Anyway, have a good laugh today. It will make you feel good!

We had a busy but fun weekend

We went to family day and had a great time! The kids had a blast riding all the rides and playing games!

Here's Daniel ready for battle...

Here's Brooke, Daniel and Austin ready to fly...

I have more pictures if you would like to take a peek.

The food wasn't as good this year but it was free so I guess we can't complain too much. It's pretty bad when the best thing on the menu are the corn dogs. LOL

The fireworks were great as usual! Daniel wasn't real happy with the loud noise so he chose to watch from the inside the car.

It's Friday!!

I love Fridays. It's our slowest day here at work and it's the start of the weekend! We have a fun weekend planned. My husband works for GE and it's the annual family day celebration tomororw. They have carnival rides and games for the kids. There's also tons of food. The very best part is that it's all FREE! At the end of the evening there's a HUGE fireworks show! I hope my boys will be in good moods tomorrow and feeling well. I'm sure the 7 year old will be fine. It's the 2 year old that you never know about.

Sunday will be our normal routine I supose. We will go to church in the morning and then maybe do something fun for the afternoon. Last Sunday we went and picked apples at an orchard. That was lots of fun!
